Feeling Off? It Might Be Energetic Trauma.

Have you ever felt off for no clear reason? Maybe you feel tired no matter how much you rest, or you notice your mood shift after being around certain people. You might even feel like you're carrying stress that isn't fully yours. If that sounds familiar, you might be experiencing something known as energetic trauma.
What Is Energetic Trauma? (And Why You Might Still Be Carrying It)
When we think of trauma, we often imagine big events like car accidents, loss, or abuse. But trauma can also be subtle and cumulative: the feeling of never being heard, being emotionally neglected, or growing up in a high-stress home. Over time, these experiences don’t just affect our thoughts and emotions they can also settle into the energetic body.
So... what’s an energetic body?
Whether you’ve ever thought about it or not, you have an energetic system, kind of like your nervous system, but instead of sending electrical signals, it manages the flow of energy in your body. You might’ve heard terms like “aura,” “chakras,” or “life force.” This energy system can get overloaded, blocked, or thrown out of balance especially after stressful or traumatic experiences.
How does trauma affect our energy?
Emotional or psychological trauma can disrupt the healthy flow of energy, just like physical injury disrupts blood flow. You might notice:
Feeling drained even when you’ve rested
Brain fog or trouble focusing
Anxiety or irritability that feels “stuck”
Random physical aches or tension (especially in the neck, shoulders, or gut)
A sense of being disconnected from others, or even from yourself
These symptoms often persist long after the “worst” of the trauma is over because while you may have moved on mentally, your energy hasn’t.
Can energy trauma come from small things?
Absolutely. It doesn’t have to be a big, dramatic event. Energetic trauma can come from:
Constantly putting others first
Growing up in a home where emotions weren’t safe
Always feeling like you have to “hold it all together”
Being criticized or rejected repeatedly
Going through a breakup, job loss, or even a move
Trauma is anything that overwhelms your system, especially when you didn’t feel supported or safe during it.
Signs You Might Have Unresolved Energetic Trauma:
You’re easily triggered by certain people or situations
You feel like you’re repeating the same patterns in relationships
You have trouble trusting yourself or others
You crave rest but never feel truly rested
You feel emotionally “numb” or detached
What does energy healing do?
Energy healing helps reset the system. It clears lingering energetic imprints from past experiences so you can feel more grounded, clear, and connected. There are lots of different approaches. Reiki is one of the most common, and it's what I offer. You don’t need to believe in anything specific for it to work it’s more about relaxing your system so your body and energy field can naturally begin to release what it’s been holding onto.
What healing looks like
Healing energetic trauma isn’t always dramatic. In fact, it’s usually gentle. Many people say they feel lighter, calmer, or more themselves after a session. Sometimes it’s subtle, like finally getting a deep night’s sleep, or noticing you’re not overthinking everything for once.
